Woodland Ave Road Segment Closure for Month of July
A heads up for those driving up Woodland Ave in Duluth. A part of the road will be closed to thru traffic between St. Paul Ave and Northfield Street.
It starts today, July 9th, and goes through the end of the month, July 30th.
This will closure will allow work on to be done on the underground storm sewer networks, combined with curbs, gutters, and sidewalk improvements.
The DTA will still be able to use Woodland Ave as normal. All other traffic should follow the designated detour route of Snively Road, Martin Road, and Woodland Avenue.
This work is part of a larger project that includes repaving approximately 1.5 miles of Woodland Avenue from Snively Road to Anoka Street and constructing new curbs and gutters.
Additionally, to improve safety for all road users, Woodland Avenue will change from two lanes in each direction to one lane each with a continuous center turn lane, and a bike lane will be added. Other safety improvements include enhanced pedestrian crossings at the entrance to Hartley Nature Center and at Minneapolis Avenue, and a new sidewalk from the Hartley entrance to Northfield Street. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of August.
