Duluth FC kicks off their 2024 postseason push on Wednesday. While the Duluth area is expected to hit hotter temperatures around the 80s, head coach Sean Morgan said home field advantage will still be huge.

“We’re quite hard to beat at home, I think. We haven’t lost very often in the last four or five years here. It’s quite nice to know that we’ll be playing with the home backing and a place where the guys feel comfortable. We’re training every day, so yeah, really big to be playing at home,” Morgan said at practice Tuesday morning.

Duluth FC drew the two seed and will host the Minnesota TwinStars in the NPSL North Conference semifinals.

The two squads have battled twice already this season. First, Duluth fell 3-1 on the road May 29, then bounced back on June 8 to earn a big 7-1 home win.

“The couple of goals that they scored on us down there, we were exploited and we were punished for it,” Morgan said. “We’ve got to be aware of their strengths on the counter attack, physicality and good set pieces, and try and temper all of that and hopefully be able to stamp our own authority in the game and play our own football.”

This also marks a rematch of the 2023 NPSL North semifinals, where Duluth earned the 5-1 win over the TwinStars to advance.

Kickoff Wednesday is set for 7 p.m. at Walt Hunting Stadium in Duluth. The winner advances to the conference championship Friday against either Dakota Fusion FC or Joy St. Louis Park.
