Brandon Weatherz: Active stretch continues

It’s another day with rain in the region. An early morning round of showers and thunderstorms will gradually thin out, then additional showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and continue through the evening. No severe storms are expected, but heavy rain will be possible. Areas to watch for possible flooding are the spots that received high rain totals yesterday.

Rain should thin out overnight with showers returning to north central Minnesota Thursday morning. The afternoon will be when rain becomes more widespread across the region. We will then continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms through Friday and into Saturday as a slow moving system loiters in the Upper Midwest. A drier stretch should begin Sunday. Up until then, the wet stretch will be accompanied by areas of fog in the overnight and morning hours.

We get a break from the lake breeze today. A southwest wind kicking in will allow temps to reach mid to upper 70s for much of the region, including the Twin Ports. The cooler lake air being directed along the North Shore. Tomorrow will be similarly warm, then an east wind returns Friday and continues through the weekend.
