Glensheen started its reign as a fan-favorite museum in 1979.

Chester and Clara Congdon built the mansion from 1905-1908, and members of the family continued to live their until 1977.

The home was donated to the University of Minnesota, not necessarily with the intention of being a museum.

But the public, was intrigued, and tours started in 1979.

One of the most remarkable things is that the furniture is original to the house.
