A self-proclaimed quiet couple, Andi Halligan and Cullen Cusick told us they like to do Duluth-y things, like hiking and cycling and enjoying craft beer.
They are doing more of these activities lately, because she’s in remission from an aggressive form of breast cancer.
The two eloped during the beginning of the pandemic. Then a year later, she found a lump in her breast. She was only 32. “For women under 40, 80% of us find it themselves,” she shared.
She had plenty of treatments, including IVF, to help save their chances of having a baby someday, despite heavy duty chemo. “It’s been a lot of blended care. Surgery in Duluth, IVF in Minneapolis, chemo in Minneapolis, and radiation at Mayo Clinic Rochester,” she said.
They are grateful for the support of so many during this stressful time.
“You’re really not alone, and you don’t have to do it alone,” Cusick added.
Tig’s Smok’n Pig BBQ is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, from 12-3pm, at the Harley Davidson store in Hermantown. Andi and Cullen plan to be there.
