Justin Liles: Our nice weather continues!
High pressure is well in control and our current weather is a direct result of this feature. Clearer skies will continue overnight and most of Friday. The pattern then shifts and touch when winds turn over to the south bring in more moisture and instability to the region. This means Friday will likely see some afternoon to evening showers and thunderstorms pop up. Once again, these won’t be severe but certainly some heavier localized rain along with Thunder and lightning are possible. The area most likely to see something is the Arrowhead.
A more potent wave along with even more moisture arrives on Saturday. Saturday looks to start off warm and sunny but a cold front passing through the Northland will likely spark off some thunderstorms. If going to Reggae Festival at Bayfront festival park, the early morning hours will be great. However, the afternoon and evening hours you may need and umbrella and jacket. Winds will switch off the lake in the afternoon and cool the Lake Superior shoreline down, including the festival.
By Sunday, another round of rain is possible with enough daytime heating to help destabilize the air hanging over the Northland. This pattern will likely carry us over into next week. During this stretch most of northern Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, and the U.P. of Michigan will stay near 80°F.
