New Minnesota Wilderness front office staff settling in
The Minnesota Wilderness had quite the overhaul in their front office this offseason. This week all the new faces came together for their first camp, the main tryouts, at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.
New General Manager Brandon Ferns, Assistant GM Steve Williams, and Assistant Coach Evan Alexius helped second year head coach Colten St. Clair with talent evaluation through the four day camp. It all concluded Thursday with their 40-man all-star game.
“Brandon Ferns, who is our GM, he does a great job. He’s always in the rinks. I think the one thing that he does really well is he forms really good relationships with colleges, and just the players in general,” St. Claid said. “Steve Williams, our assistant GM, kind of the same thing. Those guys have worked together for a while, and it’s been real fun for me to work with them.”
St. Clair added they, “just hired a new assistant coach, Evan Alexius. He was the head coach for the Honeybaked 16U team out in Michigan. So he’s got a really good understanding of some of those high-end youth guys, especially in the state of Michigan.”
The Wilderness will first put their new regime to the test in their season opener September 13 when they host the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
