Lea Zmurko: Storms to start off the workweek.
We will see plenty of showers and thunderstorms developing over the afternoon and lasting into the early hours of Tuesday. The 50-90% chance of rain is correlated to a shortwave of energy in the upper levels of the atmosphere that located just to our southeast. As this pattern is conducive to showers and precipitation across the Northland.
Some patchy fog will linger in the early morning hours this week. So be mindful on the roads of low-lying regions in Northwestern Wisconsin and Central Minnesota. This will dissipate as the morning progresses and the sun rises higher.
No severe weather expected at this time, but storms have the potential to be strong with small hail, gusty winds, and periodically heavy downpours.
Today, temperatures will make their way into the upper 70s and low 80s. With the showers lasting through the evening Tuesday will remain cooler and in the mid-sixties as winds will carry a breeze in off the lake.
Conditions will start to dry after Tuesday afternoon and a stretch of sunny days will carry into the weekend. Temperatures across the Northland will warm through the end of the week and get back up to the upper 80s.
