Expect temporary closures of portions of West Third Street in Duluth
The City of Duluth reminds residents that there will be closures on portions of West Third Street this week for utility work. Work began Monday in the 2800 and 2900 blocks of W Third Street in Lincoln Park.
Contractors are working on water service replacements.
Beginning July 22, westbound Third Street will be closed from 28th Avenue W to Devonshire Street. The closure includes the westbound travel lane and the parking lane. Crews put in a temporary stop sign at 28th Avenue W and detour to direct westbound traffic south on 28th Avenue W to First Street, Truck Center Drive and Chestnut Street.
Eastbound traffic will be able to remain on Third Street and obey the temporary stop sign in place at 28th Avenue W.
The temporary closure will be in place throughout the week, with the road to reopen by the end of the week.
Additional closures may be needed during the Lincoln Park-centered project, according to city leaders. Some travel delays are likely in the neighborhood.
