Set sail with Duluth-Superior Sailing Association

Nyah and Lea go sailing

Good Morning Northland's Nyah Adams and Lea Zumrko went sailing with the Duluth Superior Sailing Association

If you’re looking for a new way to see Lake Superior, test the waters with a sailing lesson! Any skill level from beginner to expert can get in on the action. Waterfront Director Zach Lange says that the motto of the Duluth-Superior Sailing Association is “sailing for all.”

The Duluth-Superior Sailing Association is running plenty of programs through August to get folks young and old out on the Harbor. The non-profit organization also has programs and lessons available for those with disabilities.

Lange says they offer week long youth summer camps, open sailing events, and private or group sailing lessons for all ages and skill levels.

Lessons range from beginner, intermediate, and advanced jib and mainsail to racing lessons. Individual lessons cost $35 per hour but if you bring some friends along it will cost $25 per person.

Youth programs are booked for the summer, but lessons will continue throughout the remainder of the season. If you happen to be down by the marina on a Friday evening, the Duluth-Superior Sailing Association is hosting their Friday Night Youth Race Clinic and Laser Series through August 2nd.

If you are an experienced sailor, you can buy a membership pass and have free access to their fleet of 30 sailboats. You can find more information about memberships here.
