MnDOT is asking public input on future passenger rail services

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is asking the public to weigh in on the future of passenger rail services. This request comes is part of the ongoing update with the Minnesota State Rail Plan.

The Minnesota State Rail Plan addresses important topics to support safety, economic development and possible expansion of passenger rails. There’s more than 4,000 miles of freight and passenger rail lines in the state. The MSRP provides an overall vision for future development of the rail system and identifies priority rail corridors.

The current engagement effort focuses on passenger rails with a goal of understanding needs for improved connectivity, safety and sustainability. MnDOT seeks input to inform how passenger rail services can better serve Minnesotans.

Feedback can be provided several different ways, people can take the five-minute survey. Folks can share their experiences of both passenger and freight rail in Minnesota. People can also use the interactive map, to provide feedback on specific rail crossings, stations and locations.  Also anyone can subscribe to State Rail Plan email updates to participate in future public meetings or events.

The Minnesota State Rail Plan is part of MnDOT’s Family of Plans that supports Minnesota GO, the 50-year vision for our state’s transportation system. Also for other stories with MnDOT you can read more here.
