Lea Zmurko: Some more sunshine in the Northland
Early morning fog will burn off by the mid-morning hours giving way to a very sunny day with few clouds in the sky.
A few areas will see some haze and smell some smoke across central and northern portions Minnesota as the smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to dissipate. Most of the smoke will remain in the upper levels of the atmosphere and air quality will stay good in the Northland through the weekend.
The high temperatures for today will be within the 80s and a light breeze will keep the North Shore cooler. Conditions will remain hot and dry through the end of the week. We will see 85-90 degrees across areas in the Northland by the end of the weekend.
Heat advisories may be needed with such a long stretch of days well above the normal temperatures for the area.
Thunderstorms will likely develop over the weekend across northern Minnesota and rain chances will stick arounds the region into the beginning of next week especially across the Arrowhead and northwest Wisconsin.
