Police have determined ‘suspicious circumstances’ regarding fatal apartment fire in Duluth
Update 2: The Duluth Police Department reports that they have determined there are “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death of Maxton Gudowski.
“This remains a very active and ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time,” explained Mattie Hjelseth, the Duluth Police Department Public Information Officer. “If anyone has any information surrounding this incident, you are encouraged to call DPD’s Violent Crimes Unit at (218)-730-5050.”
Update 1: The Duluth Fire Department has identified the victim in Thursday, July 25’s fatal apartment fire as Maxton Gudowski, 25, of Duluth.
Original Story: Fire officials in Duluth are now investigating a fatal fire from early Thursday morning.
Crews responded to the 600 block of 47th Avenue East, around 2:30am. The fire was in a three story, seven unit apartment building.
They discovered the blaze in one of the apartments on the first floor. That’s where one person was found dead. No other details about the victim are being released at this time.
Six other residents and some pets were evacuated safely. No other injuries have been reported. Damage has been limited to the one apartment.
