Rock Ridge slips past Hibbing in Legion playoffs

After taking home a big win on Wednesday, second seeded Hibbing traveled to Cloquet to take on number 8 Rock Ridge in the MN American Legion Baseball Division I substate 9 playoffs.

In the top of the second, with bases loaded Rock Ridge’s Blake Bailey shot the ball right past the second baseman, allowing Sam Ray time to come home. Next at bat, Harley Mott punched a shot right past the second baseman once again, bringing Will Kemp home this time. Rock Ridge led 2-0.

In the bottom of the second… Hibbing brought the speed starting with Luke Nelson racing home on a passed ball to put Hibbing on the board 2-1. Then Beau Frider made it home on Rock Ridge’s throwdown attempt, tying the score at 2-2.

After a long battle, Rock Ridge took home the win with a score of 6-5. Rock Ridge will return to Cloquet face off against Duluth on Friday at 3:30pm.
