Storm Damage: Boats flock into harbor as winds pick up
Crowds of boats and spectators gathered around Duluth and on Lake Superior off the shores of Canal Park to watch the Canadian Air Forces Snowbirds show at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 31.
Storm winds quickly rolled in around 5:30 p.m. and boats could be seen flocking off of Lake Superior and into the harbor eventually heading to shore.
Spectators were out on Lake Superior watching the Canadian Forces Snowbirds when a storm blew across the area. The video has been sped up.
Reports of downed trees and power outages have come in from across the region. According to Sky Harbor Airport in Duluth, peak wind gusts of 53 mph were recorded at 5:35 p.m. as a thunderstorm gust front traveled through the Twin Ports. Winds up to 40 mph continued until 5:55 p.m.

- 4:48 PM – Small pine tree fell on power line, small fire – 5 S Grand Rapids, Itasca County
