Four people arrested following a robbery in Bemidji
Four people have been arrested following a report of a robbery in Bemidji on Tuesday, August 6. According to the Bemidji Police Department, officers responded to a report of a robbery occurring near Algoma Park, 3500 block of Minnesota Ave. just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
When authorities arrived they spoke with a boy who said four men allegedly surrounded him and demanded his scooter and bag. He said they threatened him, but eventually ran off.
An off-duty Bemidji Police Officer was in the park with his family and saw what happened. The officer provided descriptions of the four people involved, and three were located quickly. The fourth suspect was found after a lengthy search of the area. According to the police, a resident spotted a suspicious person hiding in the bushes near his home. Officers responded and identified the person as the 4th suspect.
Officers arrested a 20-, 18-, 15-, and 14-year-old in connection with this incident. The two older suspects are reportedly from Bemidji and the four face charges of simple robbery.
The Bemidji Police Department was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, MN State Patrol and the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
