Animal Allies in Duluth at max capacity for dogs
Animal Allies Humane Society in Duluth has reached max capacity for dogs. Nicole Facciotto, the humane education manager at the shelter said dogs are entering the shelter faster than they are leaving.
“When dogs don’t get adopted regularly, a bottle neck happens as we are still receiving scheduled owner surrender’s as well as strays we are contractually obligated to house,” explained Facciotto. “We can only house 30 dogs at a time. When we no longer have space, that means the services we offer to the community have to be paused.”
Facciotto said there are multiple reasons for the bottle neck including a rising cost of living, other organizations transferring in dogs from out of state and limited access to affordable spay and neuter in the area.
“As one of the only animal welfare organizations with a physical building in the area, the responsibility of animals needing placement tends to fall most heavily on our shoulders,” said Facciotto. “If you are looking to adopt and want to ensure there are safe, reliable options for the pets in our community – please offer your support to Animal Allies.”
Animal allies is located at 4006 Airport Rd, Duluth, MN.
