Pickup truck and UTV accident in Great Scott Township

UPDATE 8/10: The injured UTV passenger, a 61-year-old female, has died from the injuries sustained in the crash. 

Original Story:

St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a side by side (UTV) that had been rear ended by a pickup truck in the 10000 blk Osborn Rd, in Great Scott Township on Friday August 9th.

A 61-year-old female and a 15-year-old female were in the UTV at the time of the accident. The passenger suffered life threatening injuries as a result from the crash and was transported to a Duluth area hospital by Life Link III air medical for treatment of those injuries. 

The driver of the UTV was transported by family members to Essentia-Virginia for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver and lone occupant of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old male, was uninjured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the MN State Patrol.
