Huskies slide over Honkers
The Duluth Huskies cemented their top seed title Friday night in their second to last series of the season 4-1 win against the Rochester Honkers.
In the second, shortstop Tyler Palmer makes the backup throw to Charlie Sutherland for an around the back tag that goes the Huskie’s way Then in the bottom of the third Cardell Thibodeaux is up to bat and rips one out to center field for a double and brings Elijah Fairchild in.
And for the play of the day, Huskies put on their thinking caps when the Honker’s Paul Schoenfield slips at third, the huskies managed to pull off a pickle play – getting the out and preventing a run.
The Huskies take their 20th win at 4-1. They will take on their series conclusion with the Honkers Saturday night at Wade Stadium.
Huskies lead the Great Plains East division and are currently slated to make the playoffs if they keep their seed.
