Vietnam veteran from Itasca County about to resume paddle down the Mississippi to stop soldier suicide

Resuming the mission to stop soldier suicide by paddling down the Mississippi River

A Vietnam veteran from Itasca County is heading out to finish his mission of stopping soldier suicide by paddling down the Mississippi.

Next week, Frank Lachinski will leave his Goodland Township home and head out to paddle down the Mississippi River.

The Vietnam veteran made it about halfway down the river last year.

He plans on finishing the other half this year, getting in near St. Louis. “I’m excited to finish my mission,” he shared.

His mission is to raise money for Stop Soldier Suicide.

“I think the hardest part about mental health is asking for help. Don’t be afraid. Be alive,” he shared.
