Lea Zmurko: Smoke and sunshine

August 19: A bright and dry start to the week

Seeing smog and a light haze Monday morning, but with a shift in winds, conditions will look pleasant and bright for the rest of the week.

The Northland will see quiet conditions for the start of the week and several days of sunshine and clear.

With a northerly flow keeping conditions dry and comfortable, wildfire smoke will be drifting across parts northern Minnesota. An Air quality alert is in place until this afternoon as smoke particles may be harmful to sensitive groups.

High pressure will continue to sit over head keeping temperatures in the mid-70s with dew points in the 50s but once that ridge starts to depart, some showers and thunderstorms can be expected late on Thursday.

Warm temperatures will stick around for the upcoming weekend as summer is not quite over yet!
