Back-to-school shopping savings
Certified Financial Planner Michelle Buria, the Managing Director of Choreo, offers some advice for back-to-school savings.
No. 1: Take inventory of what’s at home
Look and see what you have at home. There’s some things that you can reuse rather than going out and buying something new.
No. 2: Work together
Sometimes back-to-school items can be cheaper in bulk. One option is to go in on these items with other families.
Consider even joining a Facebook group that trades items.
No. 3: Spread out shopping
If you can buy everything in your budget at once, consider spreading out your shopping. Not everything will be needed all at once.
No. 4: Set limits
Set a budget. If kids want go beyond this amount, give them the option to put their own money towards something like a backpack.
