Wedding Photographer accused of secretly recording bride

A wedding photographer from Pine City is accused of filming a bride while she was undressed.

A court document outlines the privacy interference charge against Mitchell Ringness.

The investigation began when an acquaintance turned in a thumb drive, reportedly belonging to Ringness and containing video of a bride undressing along with other sexual conduct material, to the Cloquet Police Department in April.

The complaint says the video was taken from a low angle in a bridal suite during a wedding in Albert Lea back in October of 2020. The complaint also says that once the bride is done changing, someone in the room goes to get “Mitchell.” Then Ringness walked into the room with a camera and began photographing the bride’s “first look” shots.

Detectives confirmed that Ringness was hired by the couple to photograph the wedding.

The victim told investigators that she had no idea about the “hidden camera” nor did she consent to the video taken of her.

WDIO reached out to Ringness for comment but has not heard back.

Ringness is scheduled for a first appearance in Freeborn County Court on Sept. 5.
