Boil water advisory being lifted in Meadowlands
Update 9/6/24: The boil water advisory is being lifted in the town of Meadowlands. As per the Minnesota Department of health, a water main break was discovered during the investigation into the cause of E. coli in the water. That main has now been repaired, disinfected, and flushed as of September 6. Tests now show presence of total coliform or E. coli bacteria.
Update: The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) said Meadowlands, Minnesota is still under a boil water advisory. An organization representative provided the following statement on Wednesday, September 4:
The Minnesota Department of Health did not collect samples today. We are planning to do so tomorrow when the system is operating in a normal state. The system is still completing corrective actions to the distribution system, including fixing a water main break, flushing the water from the mains and ensuring a consistent chlorine residual is present throughout the system. The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until sample analysis is complete and shows no bacterial detection.
Original Story: Residents of Meadowlands, Minnesota have been issued a boil water advisory by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) after a bacterial test discovered E. coli in the the town’s drinking water.
Eric Weller, the District Engineer with MDH, said the next step is that MDH will have to inspect the town water tower to determine the cause of the positive E. Coli test before it can be addressed. The cause is currently unknown.
Weller expects the boil water advisory to be in effect throughout Labor Day weekend.
The advisory will not be lifted until a new test determines the drinking water does not contain E. coli.
