CSS' women's soccer gets season opener spoiled

The College of St. Scholastica (CSS) women’s soccer team fell short 1-0 in their Border Battle brawl against UW-River Falls Friday afternoon.

The Border Battle is the annual CSS Saints and River Falls Falcons rivalry game, with both teams looking to bring home ‘the chalice’.

Saint’s goalkeeper Gracie Meagher put up a defensive battle of her own, managing to keep shot after shot out of the net. But in the second half, the Falcons put a point on the board with a pass from Lauren Best to Aliviah McClinton for a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons return home with the Border Battle Chalice, and St. Scholastica will return to the field on Sunday, September 1st to take on the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse at 11am.
