Tech Bytes: X announces new TV application

X enters the TV competition by launching their own app for smart TVs. Android phones get upgraded with improved alerts for earthquakes. Instagram stories can now be publicly commented on.

Social Media Platform X launches a TV app. “X TV” is aiming to compete with services like YouTube by offering a range of live channels, including news, sports, and movies. The app allows users to watch videos on smart TVs through Google, Amazon, and LG stores, but Apple TV isn’t included yet.

Google is expanding its Android Earthquake Alerts. The feature now covers the entire U.S. and six territories, alerting users to earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.5 or higher. It uses phone sensors to issue warnings, giving users crucial time to take action.

Instagram is rolling out “Comments” for Stories, which allows friends to comment publicly on your stories. Previously, stories could only be replied to in direct messages. People can still choose to respond to stories with a DM, and comments can be turned off for any post.
