Minnesota and Wisconsin first responders cross borders for passenger safety
Minnesota’s and Wisconsin’s first responders gathered together to raise awareness for child passenger safety and seat belt use on Thursday September 5th.
The event is called Crossing Borders for Passenger Safety, and it comes in light of new the child passenger safety laws that went into effect in Minnesota on August 1st.
According to Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths, participating organizations included the Minnesota State Patrol, Wisconsin State Patrol, Duluth Police Department, St. Louis County Sheriff, Douglas County Sheriff, Hermantown Police Department, Proctor Police Department, Superior Police Department, Life Link III, Mayo Ambulance, Duluth Fire Department, Superior Fire Department, MN Toward Zero Deaths, Zero in Wisconsin, and the Office of Traffic Safety – Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
“As everybody knows, your seat belt is your best protection when a driver makes a mistake or a bad decision,” said Mike Hanson Director of the office of Traffic Safety. “Our seat belts are our first line of defense and our last line of defense. The same goes to be said about protecting our most valuable passengers and those are our kids. A properly installed and properly utilized child passenger safety system makes all the difference in the world.”
