Walk to End Alzheimer’s takes to the Lakewalk
People gathered at the DECC for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event hosted by the Alzheimer’s association on Saturday September 7th.
The walk went from the DECC to the Fitgers building, about 3 miles, along the Lakewalk.
Each registered participant received a promise garden flower, the colors of which represented their connection to Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
People of all ages and all connections to Alzheimer’s and dementia were there in support of the Alzheimer’s association.
“It means the world to all of us who are in this fight right now, that people are this passionate about helping others,” said Susan Parriott Chief Executive Officer at the Alzheimer’s Association. “This is not just an old person’s disease; it effects a whole family. We hope the kids today don’t have to face Alzheimer’s.”
The event brought out 447 participants and raised $ 128,184 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Our very own Lea Zmurko was there emceeing the event.
