Recall of Wild State Cider’s Birdie Honeyberry Lemonade

Wild State Cider announced on Facebook Wednesday, they are recalling their Birdie Honeyberry Lemonade due to an unexpected fermentation of yeast. The company says “out of abundance of caution,” they will recall the product and ask consumers to safely dispose of the cans.

Wild State says it will provide refunds or replacement of the product.

The recall notice says recently, “a small number of cans sold may be under pressure as a result of a possible unexpected fermentation of yeast present in fresh fruit.” The company says due to fresh fruit, there is the possibility for fermentation to occur in warm cans.

Wild State says if you have already consumed the product, there are no safety concerns. Cans that have been refrigerated are unlikely to be pressurized. The company says they are changing the pasteurization process to prevent this from happening in the future.

The recall only includes the Birdie Honeyberry Lemondade product, and not other Honeyberry products.

If you purchased Birdie Honeyberry Lemonade at the taproom or on our website, please send us an email at info@wildstatecider.com for a refund.

The company has additional information on proper disposal at Wild State Cider.
