UMD football kicks off their home season on Saturday with a battle against Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM).

In their first week, the Bulldog’s defense held ground, only allowing Northern Michigan one touchdown and 56 passing yards.

MSUM’s quarterback Jack Strand will be a new challenge for the Bulldogs, as he charted 300 yards and 2 touchdowns in week 1.

“Yeah, I know it’s a big change up from the last week. I know they passed the ball probably a couple of times at Northern Michigan. And now this week, it’s going to be pass, pass, pass. So, it’s a big challenge for us, but I think we’re ready. And we’ve been practicing this whole two weeks, so I think we’re ready for the challenge,” said Bulldog captain and lineman Andrew Klopp.

UMD and MSUM will kick off Saturday September 14th at 2PM. The game is also UMD’s Military Appreciation game, and prior to kick off – the Bulldogs will be retiring former teammate Reed Ryan’s jersey. Ryan passed away in November 2024, he was 22 years old.
