Tech Bytes: iOS 18 released today

Apple rolls out iOS 18, which includes new features for home screens, iMessage, and more. Meta experiments with allowing Instagram comments on Threads posts. Google adds multitask features to Android-based tablets, only available in a developer preview mode for now.

Apple releases iOS 18 today. Updates include a customizable home screen, a new control center, and new iMessage features. Locking apps with Face ID and Game Mode are also included. However, Apple’s first artificial intelligence features are not expected until next month.

Instagram may soon let you share comments on Threads. Reports say Meta is testing a feature to cross-post comments between Instagram and Threads. While it’s not official yet, this move is part of Meta’s plan to link Threads more closely with its other platforms.

Google is testing a new feature for Android tablets that will let users resize and move apps around freely, making multitasking much easier. The feature is available in developer preview now, but there is no word on when it will be released to everyone.
