Is the Sven-Saw the Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota?
The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota competition, and a Duluth invention has advanced to the “Sweet 16.”
The Sven-Saw‘s 60th anniversary 21-inch saw is going up against real sugar made at the American Crystal Sugar Company in Moorhead, Minn.
The Sven-Saw was invented in Duluth and is manufactured in the Twin Cities. The tool is good for camping because the blade collapses into a protected metal piece.
Liz Sherry said it’s all about “celebrating manufacturing.”
“Manufacturing is responsible for 325,000 jobs in Minnesota,” Sherry said. “42 percent of Fortune 500 companies in Minnesota are manufacturing companies. So Minnesota is a manufacturing hub.”
People can vote for their favorite products to advance to the Elite Eight through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
