Our Wednesday begins with areas of dense fog impacting the morning commute. Fog should gradually improve through the morning, but areas of dense fog are expected to return tonight into tomorrow morning. Our Wednesday is otherwise mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. We look from the international border to the Iron Range for the best chance of thunderstorms through the morning and into the afternoon. Heavy rain and locally high rain totals are possible. Showers become more widespread across the region in the late afternoon and evening. We gradually dry out from northwest to southeast overnight.
It will be much cooler today with highs ranging from mid-60s near Ely and along the shorelines of Lake Superior to near 80 south toward Hayward and Butternut. A dry stretch is expected Thursday and Friday with a warming trend. The next widespread chance for showers and thunderstorms continues to be Saturday and Saturday night.
