19-year-old sentenced for 2022 downtown Duluth shooting

19-year-old Corey Devon Young has been sentenced to 27.5 years in prison after he was convicted for Second Degree Intentional Murder in Duluth.

Young was found guilty in early June.

St. Louis County authorities say evidence at trial established that Young used a pistol to shoot a juvenile male victim in close proximity on a sidewalk near 1414 East 1st Street on the night of July 2, 2022.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
