Sappi North America has released its 2023 Sustainability Report. And the mill in Cloquet is proud to be part of the commitment to social responsibility.

Managing Director for Cloquet, Tom Radovich, spent some time with WDIO on Tuesday. He told us, “Sustainability for Sappi is part of our DNA. As a diversified wood fiber company, we really harness the power of a tree.”

He added, “We look at sustainability broadly in three areas: people, planet, and prosperity.”

Back in July, the mill hit 2 million man hours without a lost time accident. “We are really proud of the fact that we focus on safety and well-being,” Radovich said.

Also, 20% of their workforce is women, which is something they’ve been working on.

The mill has gotten awards for their water conservation project that reduces the levels of mercury, among other things.

About 700 people work there.
