UMD to host the 2027 NCAA Division I Women’s Frozen Four

The University of Minnesota-Duluth has been named a host for the 2027 NCAA Division I Women’s Frozen Four at AMSOIL Arena, according to the NCAA. The announcement was made on Wednesday.

This is the fifth time UMD has been selected to host the event, and it will mark the third time the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four will be held at AMSOIL.

According to the NCAA, they conducted a comprehensive site selection process by putting most of its championships up for bid. The NCAA says it received more than 1,200 bids from member schools, conferences, cities, and sports commissions across 47 states and Washington, D.C.

The respective NCAA sports committees selected the sites, with final approval from the divisional competition oversight and championships committees. Read NCAA announces more than 240 host site selections.

Looking back at the history of the Women’s Frozen Four at AMSOIL, the University of Wisconsin won in 2023 and in 2012, the University of Minnesota took home the title.

UMD was also the host school for the NCAA Frozen Four in 2003 and 2008, and both events ended in NCAA titles for the Bulldogs.
