Last second goal helps lift Hermantown boys soccer past Duluth East

A last second goal in the first half helped lift the Hermantown boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Duluth East at Hermantown High School Wednesday night.

Duluth East scored first in the 30th minute with a goal from Connor Lehr. In the 39th minute, as the seconds ticked down on the half, Graff Mellin scored off a free kick to tie it 1-1 for Hermantown. Then in the second half, at the 70th minute, Owen Landrigan scored giving the Hawks their first lead.

Hermantown held on to earn the 2-1 win behind a seven save performance from keeper Nolan Manion. The Greyhounds’ Gray Knutson made five saves.

The Hawks (9-3-3) close out their regular season Thursday hosting Duluth Denfeld (6-6-3) at 6:30 p.m. Duluth East (5-7-3) concludes their regular season Saturday visiting Centennial at 1 p.m.
