Duluth Police respond to a high school student hit by vehicle

A 14-year-old student was struck by a vehicle, early Thursday morning, October 10, according to the Duluth Police East High School Resource Officer.. Initial investigation shows the student was crossing 40th Avenue East at Luverne Street in the crosswalk.

The student was hit by a car turning upbound 40th Ave E. The student sustained minor injuries and went home for the day. The driver of the vehicle, a 69-year-old female, was issued a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The Duluth Police Department wants to remind drivers traveling around school zones to stay vigilant for pedestrians and be aware of your surroundings.
