Sheraton Duluth Hotel is hotspot for bookworms

Book event coming to Duluth Sheraton

In less than two weeks, people can meet the author of "Twin Ports Trains" at the Duluth Sheraton.

The Sheraton Duluth Hotel is becoming a hotspot for local and visiting bookworms.

General Manager Karen Pionk said about a year ago, the Sheraton brand started “Gatherings by Sheraton” to bring in local businesses and events.

“One thing led to another, and the Sheraton brand partnered with Reese’s Book Club,” Pionk said. “Believe it or not, Duluth, Minnesota, was one of the pilot hotels to launch this program.”

On the first Tuesday of each month, the Sheraton in downtown Duluth hosts a discussion of a recent Reese’s Book Club pick.

Dennis Johnson said they wanted to make it an elevated book club experience.

“We theme all of our events based on the book. So we theme food and beverages that go with that. That’s all complimentary for book club attendees,” Johnson said.

The local Sheraton is also bringing in authors.

Some upcoming events include:

  • Oct. 24: Meet the author of “Twin Ports Trains”
  • Oct. 29: Meet the authors of “Travels of Terror”
  • Nov. 5: Reese’s Book Club discussion of “Society of Lies”
