Prep Football: MIB bests Cherry in battle of unbeatens, Hermantown soars past Esko
In prep football action Thursday night Mountain Iron-Buhl and Hermantown would pull off big road wins.
Mountain Iron-Buhl got the best of Cherry 62-6 in a battle of unbeatens. Micaden Clines and TJ DuChamp combined for the Rangers first two touchdowns, as well as a forced fumble and recovery. Noah Sundquist found Mason Heitzman for their sole touchdown in the second quarter. The Rangers led 32-6 at halftime.
MIB now improves to 7-0 and takes full control of the number one spot in the Section 7 9-man North division. They close out their regular season Wednesday, October 16 visiting Bigfork. Cherry (6-1) completes their regular season hosting Ogilvie Wednesday, Oct. 16.
In Esko, Hermantown earned their fourth straight win soaring to a 56-12 victory over Esko. The Hawks were led by quarterback Alex Schott throwing for 166 yards and three touchdowns, and Martin Sleen rushing for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Esko’s Easton Harker threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Hermantown improves to 6-1 and closes out their regular season Oct. 16 visiting Denfeld. Esko’s (3-4) regular season finale is Oct. 16 at Pine City.
