Site work is underway for the new Great Tails Animal Rescue shelter in Cohasset.

The non-profit has been operating out of the Central Square Mall in Grand Rapids, and the animals are placed in foster homes. They’re on pace to place 225 animals again this year.

The shelter has been a work in progress for three years. The goal is to break ground in the spring. Bids are still out on the 6700 square foot building.

Cohasset city leaders made the decision to donate the land needed for the shelter.

You can support Great Tails at the upcoming Masquerade Gala. It’s on Saturday the 26th, from 6-9pm, at the Barn in the Woods in Bovey.

Tickets are $125, and include dinner, drinks, and entertainment. The theme this year is gothic chic!
