Fire displaces resident in Duluth apartment

One person was displaced in an apartment fire Wednesday in the East Hillside. The complex has $25,000 in damage, and two units were affected, according to the Duluth Fire Department.

Multiple crews, including UMD, Woodland, Headquarter, and Lakeside, responded at 5:33 a.m. to the 1600 block of East Third Street.

The tenant was able to get themselves out. Fire crews rescued two cats and a dog.

No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is helping the tenant who was displaced.

The Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, but the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
