UMD men’s hockey talks hosting #6 Gophers for full series in Duluth
Traditionally, the UMD men’s hockey team plays a home-and-home series with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, up until now.
This year the Bulldogs are hosting #6 Minnesota for the full two game rivalry series this weekend.
“I think it’s good for our community, I think it’s good for our fans, it’s good for our businesses, right?” said head coach Scott Sandelin. “To have people stay for a weekend versus not staying, or maybe staying. So I liked it all at home when we played Olympic-sized ring versus NHL rink, and it’s something we’re going to do for the next three years after that.”
The Bulldogs are happy to have the Gophers in town on the AMSOIL Arena ice. Last year’s game in Duluth ended in a 3-3 tie, and in 2021 the Bulldogs beat the Gophers at home, 2-1.
Puck drop is set for Friday night at 7 p.m. and Saturday night at 6.
