The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team is trying to live and learn from yet another heartbreaking loss. On Saturday they fell 24-21 to Northern State University on a final second field goal, just one week after they suffered a 28-24 loss at Augustana University off a last minute touchdown.

“The best thing you can do after a loss is watch back the film, self-critique, listen to your coaches, make adjustments, and then flip the page. Then come back stronger the next week,” senior defensive back Jacob Mogensen said.

“It’s going to be a challenge to bring this football team back mentally and physically. We’re beat up right now like everybody else is in the country, but when you’re 3-3 and you’re beat up, it’s tough to come back. So that’s going to be a focus this week, is number one getting healthy mentally, physically, and then rallying the guys,” head coach Curt Wiese said.

The Bulldogs now sit just 3-3 overall, and 2-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play. With only five regular season games remaining, their playoff chances are slimming.

They hit the road this weekend to take on the University of Sioux Falls. Kickoff Saturday in South Dakota is 1 p.m.
