Zeitgeist Theatre breaks the fourth wall with ‘Macbeth: A Dinner Party’

Macbeth at Zeitgeist offers dinner and a show

Macbeth a dinner party opens this Sunday and Chef Stewart prepares the food that accents the whole experience.

The now sold out ‘Macbeth: A Dinner Party’ is an experiment that has been in the works for nearly 10 years.

The show combines one of Shakespeare’s most popular tragedies with a four course dinner, all taking place in Zeitgeists’ mezzanine space above the bar.

“I’ve never done a show like this. It’s actually something I’ve been kind of dreaming up for more than 10 years,” says Robert Lee He’s the shows triple threat: actor, director, and menu builder.

Macbeth: A Dinner Party was supposed to open in the year of 2020, but was canceled because of the pandemic.

Now with some new cast members and The Lift’s Chef Stuart to help with the menu, the show was able to be a part of Zeitgeist Theatre’s inaugural theatre season.

Zeitgeist’s Artistic Director Mary Fox says, “We just wanted to do something imaginative in our space and we wanted to give the audiences a really different experience than what they’re used to when they come to the theater… there’s no fourth wall with this.”
