Honoring and remembering Senator Wellstone and others on the anniversary of the crash

Remembering and honoring Senator Paul Wellstone at the memorial site

On the 22nd anniversary of the crash that killed Senator Paul Wellstone and others, friends gathered to remember them at the memorial site.

A sunny and breezy morning to remember and honor the late Senator Paul Wellstone.

It’s now been 22 years since his plane went down near Eveleth, killing the senator, his wife, daughter, three staffers, and the two pilots.

On Friday, friends gathered to share memories and reflect on what Wellstone stood for.

“He was obviously a strong Democrat. But he could find the most right-wing Republican, and find something they agreed with, and do bipartisan legislation. Especially in these times, we wanted to bring together that you can disagree with people, and still come together and do good for the country. Do good for Minnesota. Do good for the Iron Range,” shared Lisa Radosevich-Craig, Wellstone’s former Northern Minnesota director.

The DFL District 07 sponsored the event.
