The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s basketball team stayed close with the Iowa Hawkeyes Friday night, falling just 102-81 in their exhibition match at Carver Arena in Iowa City.

The match marked a homecoming for UMD head coach Justin Wieck, who played for Iowa from 2004-2006. He also coached there from 2006-2010.

UMD’s offense had a great showing, with Charlie Katona leading the team posting 20 points and seven rebounds, while added 15 points and four rebounds. Iowa’s leading scorer was Payton Sandfort with 23 points. For the full box score, Click Here.

The Bulldogs have another exhibition match scheduled for Sunday, November 3 when they host the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
