Prep Volleyball: Esko advances to Section 7AA championship, Two Harbors falls in semifinal
The Section 7AA prep volleyball semifinals were held at Hermantown High School on Wednesday night. No. 2 Esko would defeat No. 5 Crosby-Ironton 3-2 to advance, while No. 2 Two Harbors fell to No. 1 Rush City 3-1.
Esko dropped set one 25-16, then took set two 25-15 and set three 25-18. Crosby-Ironton then tied the game with a 25-21 match four victory. In set five Esko held strong to win 15-13. Improving to 25-5 on the season.
Rush City took down Two Harbors 25-15 in set one, then the Agates took set two 25-22. Sets three and four went to the Tigers 25-21 and 25-5. Rush City and Esko will now battle in the Section 7AA title game for the third straight season, during which the Tigers went to state in 2022 and 2023. First serve is Saturday, November 2 at 4 p.m. at Hermantown High School.
In the Section 7A semifinals held at Rock Ridge High School Wednesday, No. 1 Ely shutout No. 2 South Ridge 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-13), while No. 2 Bigfork knocked off No. 1 Floodwood 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 16-25, 27-25, 15-4). The Section 7A championship game will be Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m. at Hermantown High School.
