UMD women’s hockey prepares for WCHA matchup against MSU-Mankato
After a bye-week, the No. 4 University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) women’s hockey team is gearing up for a big Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) matchup against MSU-Mankato.
“I mean, we have to play fast, number one. And number two, they’re a team that really likes to attack, from what I saw in the video, from below the goal line. And they typically have been a team that traditionally attacks that way. So, we’re going to have to really be good defensively and have our wings collapse and lock up and not be poke puck focused,” said head coach Laura Schuler.
UMD, coming off a series sweep against St. Thomas, will look to bring the momentum into their matchup against the Mavericks
“Our focus needs to be like setting the tone of these games and not sitting back kind of waiting for the opponent to set the tone,” Mary Kate O’Brien, redshirt junior.
UMD will face MSU-Mankato on Friday November 1st at 6PM, and Saturday, November 2nd at 3PM, at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato.
