Incumbent Amy Klobuchar (D) is currently seeking a fourth consecutive term, having first been elected as a Senator in 2006. She is currently facing GOP challenger Royce White.

White, a talk show host and retired professional basketball player, faces an uphill battle. Klobuchar has won each of her terms by double-digit margins. In 2018, her last election, Klobuchar beat Republican challenger Jim Newberger by a margin of 24%.

White previously competed for the Minnesota’s 5th Congressional district in 2022 but failed to secure the Republican nomination. On August 13, 2024, he won the state’s Republican primary by nearly 20,000 votes.

White’s campaign website lists his values as small government, pro-life, and pro-second amendment. His legislative goals include term limits for federal legislatures, cutting taxes, and supporting election security measures.

Klobuchar’s Senatorial website includes positions on several issues like healthcare, civil rights, and immigration, while also highlighting her work in her nearly two decades in the senate.

Also on the ballot is Libertarian candidate, Rebecca Whiting and Joyce Lacey of the Independence-Alliance Party. Whiting served in the U.S. Army from 2004-2007 and is a small business owner and educator.

Lacey is a graduate from Minnesota State Community and Technical College at Fergus Falls, the University of Minnesota at Morris, and Lutheran Brethren Seminary. She worked as a reporter with KBRF Radio Station in Fergus Falls, an assistant to executive producers on a TV show, an author, and the vice president of outreach north for the Navy League of the United States.
